NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) confirmed to Investing.com that CEO Jensen Huang met with newly-elected President Donald Trump today. Huang is the latest tech CEO to meet with the President since he took office less than two weeks ago. The two discussed semiconductors and AI policy, as well as strengthening the U.S.'s technology and AI leadership.
"We appreciated the opportunity to meet with President Trump and discuss semiconductors and AI policy," an NVIDIA spokesperson said in a statement to Investing.com after the Huang and Trump meeting. "Jensen and the president discussed the importance of strengthening U.S. technology and AI leadership."
The meeting came during an eventful week for the AI sector after China upstart DeepSeek took the world by storm with its new open-source AI model. The controversial model was built for just a fraction of the cost of others like OpenAI. It was claimed to be built on older model NVIDIA GPUs, but there is some debate about how much compute the firm actually had.
Shares of NVIDIA closed down 3.7% Friday and are off 16% on the week.
